The U.S. Teletext Archive (hereafter "we," "us," "our," or the "Site") is an independent, non-commercial archival project dedicated to preserving and showcasing decoded pages from U.S. teletext services such as CBS ExtraVision, NBC Teletext, and Electra, in addition to pages from other text services such as Kentucky Educational Television's AgText. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to any of the broadcast networks referenced on this Site. We do not make any income from this website.

3. Information We Collect

GoatCounter is built specifically to avoid identifying individual visitors: your IP address is not storedyour IP address is not stored — it's used momentarily to determine an approximate region and then discarded. No cross-session identifier is created, so we cannot tell whether the same person visited twice, and no individual visitor can be picked out from the aggregate numbers.

We do notnot currently track outbound link clicks, file downloads, scroll depth, site search, or form interactions. If we add any of these in the future, this policy will be updated first, and any addition will follow the same no-cookie, non-identifying approach described above.

4. Information You Provide Directly

If you use our Contact or Submissions pages to send us a message or submit teletext samples, we collect whatever information you choose to include (such as your name, email address, and message content). This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry or process your submission, and is not shared with third parties except as needed to fulfill that purpose (for example, a form-processing service, if one is used).

5. How We Use Collected Information

We use the information described above to:

• Understand which archived teletext services and pages get the most interest
• Identify broken links or technical issues
• Prioritize future archiving efforts based on what visitors seem to care about

We do not sell, rent, or trade visitor data. We do not use collected data for advertising or ad targeting, and we have no ability to do so even if we wanted to (which we would never do anyway) — GoatCounter simply doesn't collect the kind of identifying data that would make that possible.

6. Your Choices

Because no cookies or tracking identifiers are used, there's no consent to manage or opt out of. If you'd prefer not to be counted in aggregate page-view statistics at all, using a browser extension that blocks third-party scripts (such as uBlock Origin) will prevent the GoatCounter script from loading.

7. Data Retention

Aggregate page-view counts are retained indefinitely for historical comparison (e.g., "this page has had X views since launch"), but since no individual visitor is ever identified, there is no personal data to delete or expire. Messages submitted through our contact or submissions forms are retained only as long as necessary to respond to or process them, or as required by applicable law.
